Applications are submitted by appointment only from Monday to Friday, booking Online only (here). - Valid Serbian Residence Permit
- Valid passport, issued less than 10 years ago (older passport will not be accepted) and with at least two blank adjacent pages. Passport must be valid for at least three months after the intended return date from your trip.
- Applicants residing outside Serbia or holders of a Serbia C- visa are not eligible to apply for the visa at the Embassy of Italy in Republic of Serbia.
- You can apply for a visa up to six months (or for sailors up to nine months) before your intended departure date
- If required, birth and/or marriage certificates issued outside the Republic of Serbia must be duly translated into Italian and certified in the country of issue (click here).
- for minors: written consent from both parents. If the parents are divorced or one parent lives abroad (and is not travelling with the minor) he/she must legalize his/her signature on the letter of consent at the Italian Embassy/Consulate in the country of his/her residence and provide a photocopy of his/her passport.

Visa processing usually takes between 2 and 4 working days (depending on the applicant’s nationality) after the interview at the Visa Office. Applications shall be lodged no more than six months, and for seafarers in the performance of their duties no more than nine months, before the start of the intended visit, and, as a rule, no later than 15 calendar days before the start of the intended visit. Also please be advised that the rush fee is not applicable.

Therefore, personal presence of all applicants is mandatory.
Fingerprints are not collected from the following applicants:
- Children under 12 years of age.
- Persons for whom fingerprints collection is physically impossible.
- Other categories in accordance with Article 13(7) of Regulation (EC) No 810/2009 of the European Parliament, Visa Code: http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?uri=celex:32009R0810
Subsequent visa requests within 59 months do not require further fingerprinting (with exemptions if necessary).
• The visa does not guarantee entry in the country. Further checks by Immigration Officers at the borders may lead to a refusal. Travelers are advised to carry copies of documents submitted with visa application and to provide them to the Immigration Officers if requested.
• Please, make sure to have all paperwork complete and in order prior to arriving to the visa office counter.
• Please note that visa officers may request additional documents at their discretion based on the interview with the applicant.
• The visa office of the Italian Embassy in Belgrade has the jurisdiction to process visa applications ONLY for the persons who reside in Republic of Serbia. Only a valid residence permit issued by Serbian authorities is considered as the proof of residence in Serbia.
• Before applying for your visa, make sure your travel document has a validity of at least 3 months beyond the last day of your trip in the Schengen Area and at least two empty ‘VISA’ pages.
• Passports can be collected by the holder or by the person authorized by the holder.
• Invitation letter (e.g. for tourism, business or other): duly filled-in invitation letter (faxed or emailed directly to the applicant) is required along with a copy of the host’s ID or passport (Permit of stay for non-European Union citizens) and should be sent directly to applicant.
• Health Insurance: Schengen regulations require applicants to have health insurance coverage before departure. Please check carefully whether your medical insurance will cover the costs for medical treatment abroad (up to 30.000 euros, including emergency medical evacuation). If it does not, you need to submit a health insurance covering your stay in Europe.
